South Carolina Graduation Requirements
To be eligible to receive a South Carolina High School Diploma, students must earn twenty-four units and demonstrate computer literacy. Based on South Carolina Code of Regulations 43-234(I)(A), requirements to receive a South Carolina High School diploma for students in grades 9 – 12 are as follows:
- English Language Arts – 4 Units
- Mathematics – 4 Units
- Science (to include Biology) – 3 Units
- US History – 1 Unit
- US Government – 1/2 Unit
- Economics – 1/2 Unit
- Other Social Studies – 1 Unit
- Physical Education or ROTC – 1 Unit
- Computer Science – 1 Unit
- World Language or Career & Tech Education – 1 Unit
- Additional Electives – 7 Units
TOTAL – 24 Units
